Marachekku is the traditional machinery used to extract ennai (oil) from Groundnut, Gingelly, Coconut, etc., for the past two hundred years. Bulls were used to run the wooden assembly and now electric motors were used to maximize the productivity and quality of the oil. The wooden assembly is important for the extraction at lower temperatures to retain the vital nutrients, live enzymes and anti-oxidants in the oil.
